Subject: RE: National Capital Race - Somersault marvintpa - 2012-08-08 9:24 AM How was the course? Pretty nice course. Apparently they switched the run from last year. Turns out that was good for me because it is the same run course for the September half-iron/iron distance. I didn't think I would like loops but turns out I did. The bike was 4 loops of what was supposed to be flat and fast and it sort of was but you had to work for it with the wind and the slight direction changes of the road. Also some inclines and false flats and a short, steeper climb at the 10km turn around of the first loop. Liked seeing how close I was to the previous lap in time plus it broke the course down into little chunks. Same thing with the run. Pretty much flat with the exception of a short, steep descent out of T2 and then you had to run back up it into the finish chute and turn around for the 2nd lap. Not much cover from the sun. I think it will be easier mentally thinking that all I have to do is four 5km runs. Mooney's Bay is really nice to swim in and apparently you get the current on the way back. It was one loop - 750 up the and 750 back. |
