Subject: Triathlon employment...what are the possibilties?

Just saw a post about a triathlon job and it really got me thinking...

I've been itching a bit (job-wise...even though I have a pretty sweet job) and wondered what possibilities there are for a career in the triathlon field? When I say "career" I mean full-time, actually pays the bills.

What type of options do you think are out there? Would there even be somewhere that list's opportunities?

Thoughts?

I have looked into this a very little bit and have not found great options. Other folks may know of some better ones though.

Tri Shop: This would be my dream but depending on your area, opening a tri shop could either be great or could put you into bankruptcy. Not going to be known to make you a ton of $$ but could pay the bills depending on demand.

Race Director: There are a very few folks who can live on being a full time race director. From what I have seen though it takes time building up great races and getting people to believe in you. Keith Jordan of EndorFUN sports is a great example. He puts on some great races and plenty of people fly cross country just to participate in them.

Other options are things like vendors for triathlons. This would be like the timing chip company or the company that rents out and sets up the transition area equipment.

If you really want to do it, i'm sure that it can be done. Good luck. Looking forward to hearing other replies.

I feel you'd have to start at PT or something on the side here and there..and then build up to FT.
