Subject: BR-ICK Workouts
Well now I know why they are called brick workouts. I completed my 1st one on Fri and I goota tell ya my legs were like bricks starting out the run portion!!!! I only went 1/2 the distance of a sprint try to on the bike!!!! I can only imagine if I went a full 12-16 miles!!! I did about 7 miles in about 30 minutes and then ran for 30 minutes straight and covered about 3.2 miles. This was all done at my Local Y on a stationary bike and treadmill. I can only imagine that it would be more difficult outside on a real bike and running on pavement!!!

No more bricks for me until I get cloder to race day!!!!

ACK! Don't wait til you get too close to race day! You actually need to train through that weird bike to run transition. I know it feels really weird. It's like your legs are so used to doing one thing (biking) that you can't make them do the switch...

What I do is every time I go for a bike ride, I run at least a 1/2 mile afterward--but usually a mile. It normally takes me about 10 minutes for my legs to recognize their new muscle group demands! It really helps, then when you do your next BRick it won't seem so strange.

Best of luck, neokrotmo!

Every time you get off the bike do a short run even if it is only 5 or 10 mins. It will make a difference down the road.

The bricks will also help you practice your transitions besides training your legs.

Hey, all, thanks for the advice...I'm hereby going to incorporate some type of run post-bike to get the bod used to the transition.
