OK....enough of the IM KY threads already    we've got a little race here in Wisconsin this week!!!    Arrived in Madison last night and woke up this morning to chilly temps, overcast skies and light rain - supposed to clear out by tomorrow.  In a little while I'll head down to the G-swim and then register.  Hopefully the A.R.T. booth is set up so I can get some treatment on my hammy and glute.  So glad I packed a bunch of cool, wet weather gear.

Swimmers are out already in the gloomy, cloudy, drizzly weather.  Glad to see Hurricane Gustav come to visit us up here.

This week is going to be the same all through Sat., with the high of around 76 degrees F.  Hopefully, the rain will subside, the breeze will be mild, and then it would be a nice SUNDAY RACE!!

DeannaS reported Ironman Village is getting setup at this time, and may be done soon.

Is this open to the public or only race participants? I know most race expos are for everyone, but I've never been to an Ironman so I'm not sure.

I'm freaking over the weather. I get cold very easily (packing the leg warmers, arm warmers, jacket......) Plus, I REALLY don't want to have to do those down hills on wet roads. Can you tell this is my first IM ? SO NERVOUS!

i was worried when i saw the cool temps on the weathernetwork that i'd  be freezing my arse off after 2yrs in the south.  but it would seem that i'm still canadian as i ran in the rain in shorts and tee and was fine.  i did get looks from folks that  were in jackets and long pants tho.  LOL

i'm good for whatever weather we wind up with on sunday.  i do hope the water isn't as hilly tho.

What is it with those IM KY people...their race is OVER!!!!  dont' they have race reports to write??? - stop pushing our threads down!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got down to the G-ade swim around 9:10 am - not many people there - maybe a dozen or so in the water and another dozen on land. Water felt perfect!  However, there was a good chop that was a factor on the return trip heading eastward.  Headed up to the registration line and there were tons of people. For those that had their USAT card there was a slightly shorter line but still lots of waiting.  JamesG recognized me in line from our mini-camp video and said hello.   When I left at noon there was hardly any line.   I visited the A.R.T. folks and had a good session done on my left leg. The doctor that did me had done IM WI twice and Kona.  Spent a good bit of time talking to the guy at the Computrainer booth.  The motor on my Tacx trainer burned out last week so now I need to make a decision on whether to spring for the CT.  Managed to go thru the merchandise section and spending a whopping total of $9.00, although I carried around some nice Sugoi bike shorts for a while before changing my mind.  That's $90 I can put towards a CT.  Went to Quiznos for a quick sandwich before heading back to the motel.  Now I get to play with transition and special needs bags this afternoon!  Gonna meet up with some EN people for dinner at Tuttos this evening.

Mmmmm Tuttos.  Birkie, did they have the Sugoi's with the red chamois pad?  I love those for any distance riding and GearWest was out last week. I think I paid $75 last time but $90 at the event sounds about right.

I used to have money in my wallet, then I took up triathlon I'm staying just a few short blocks away and have been resisting the urge to go melt another credit card all day. I'm volunteering at registration tomorrow morning so I can always browse after if my self control holds out today!

Birkie very nice to meet you and see you at the EN dinner tonight. Freaking freezin and wet here . Lake water is so warm unbelievable I would think very close to not being wetsuit legal. Let's pray for some warmer weather.

Birkie, it's good to see that you are handling the nerves well.

Looking forward to seeing you all this weekend.  I found out today that my brother lives on the run course which is cool.  I will be on the corner of Spring and Mill Streets just as you come off the bike path and run onto Spring Street.  I will have the sombrero on and maybe a cow bell if I can find one.
