Subject: Recurring newbe
Hi Everyone!
Around this time of year, in the last 5 years or so, I “think about” getting back into shape. But I was never able to maintain a routine for longer then 2 weeks.. I even paid a nice sum for a 6 months gym subscription, but I went only 4 times :/

With that in mind I want this year to be different! But I don’t know to do so..
BT site offers *a lot* of resources and information, but the more I read the more confused I get..

Is a goal of reducing 5kg of fat and staying in the same weight in two months is a reasonable one?
How should I get started in a way that I will able to maintain the exercise routine?

I’m not as “out of shape” as the above sound I just don’t do sport, well apart from typing a lot, if that counts.

Thanks,
Ariel.

Yes, your goal is okay but 5 kg= a bit over 10 lbs and that's a lot to lose in a month.  Better give it 2 or 3 months.

If you're not doing a lot of exercise at this point in time it's best to look at one of the couch to programs on this site.  Pick whichever sport is most enjoyable to you since you don't have anything at this point in time.  Go easy, start with walking and add in jogging if you feel like it but slow and easy to introduce activity until you've adapted to it.

There is a weight loss board if that's all you want to look at.  This board is for the monthly challenges which are a lot of fun in themselves.  The April challenge is a multisport one (pick 2 or more things to challenge yourself in).  If you're pretty inactive right now I'd go easy like 30 min walking 3x/week and perhaps some core work with yoga or pilates once a week.  That would get you assigned to a team and meeting more folks on the boards.

Hi Ariel!

Judi (Zipp) had lots of good advice in her reply to you.

The Challenge forum is a good place to keep you motivated to work out. Every month, we have a different challenge. You commit to goals, and compete in teams. I think that people tend to really try to hit their goals, because they don't want to let their team down. (Or suffer the "dire consequences" that occur when your team doesn't win. )

Here's a link to the April Challenge, if you want to read about the rules for it:

As for the weight loss, as Judi said, BT has a great weight loss forum. Here's a link to get there:

Thank you both for the quick reply!
I might have given the wrong impression, im not that badly out of shape (I can continually run 1.5k and swim 1k), I’m also not overweight (some might say the other way around).

Edit: In what form should I ask about Program selection?
I’m unable to decide between:
Sprint - 2x Balanced - 16 Week

Couch-to-Sprint - 12 Week - RPE

I took a quick glance at both options.  The Sprint 2x Balanced is pretty clear that if you cn do the minutes in the first week then you can do the program.  If you aren't able to do that much volume starting out then the couch to program works better.  I am pretty sure that if you can run 1.5K and swim 1K continuously you can do the first program.

Good luck and happy training!
