Subject: Brain Surgery a year ago...... Today it is a very special day for us, Sara and me. Exactly a year ago I underwent the first of two brain surgeries. A year ago today, I was lying on an operation table to remove the golf size tumor that was slowly killing me (literally ). They removed 85% of it and I now live with a still growing 15%... But hey, I could not ask for anything else… my life is just beginning (again ).
To celebrate such a day I went running, and I ran 20 miles… yes you read right, 20 miles in preparation for the marathon I will be running in February. Felt great, felt alive, but most importantly felt grateful. This experience has opened my eyes and my heart to see things in a different way and I cannot express how feel today. Life is a one way ticket and how we live it is what is important. Socrates once said “Not life, but good life, is to be chiefly valued” I think we were placed in this earth to live a good life, a great life and to treasure friends, family and ourselves. I will never wake up again and live a day without stopping and smell the roses and enjoy my friends, my family and chiefly the company of my wonderful wife.
Keep running... it is good for the soul
