First of all, this problem has been ongoing for 2 years now.

It started out as a right foot issue during running and just recently went to a physical therapist for a running gait analysis and he said my right leg is almost half an inch shorter than my left. A couple of cork insoles and it has helped somewhat. Now, in the past few months I am having an issue with my left leg where the knee and leg don't track straight. The left leg flares out on the run and on my cycling upstroke.

I feel like something is misaligned in my back or lower hip area. I have gone to 8 different Dr's in the past 2 years about the right foot issue that started all this and the answers I have gotten have been little help.

I have seen:
2 physical Therapists ( 2 running gait analysis's)
2 orthopedists ( 2 MRI's - 1 - back, 1 -lower right leg)
1 chiropractor
2 Podiatrists
1 Neurologist ( nerve testing on lower right leg)

WHO SHOULD I GO SEE AT THIS POINT????? I feel like I need a good Sports Medicine Dr who has history working with running and cycling issues mechanical issues.

Anyone have some good advice?

I'm now sure if this is what you need, but when the tracking is off on cycling... ie: if your knee moves in an arc outward or inward that is when you might need some shims placed in your cleat to fix the tracking. I know i have 2 shims on my right shoe b/c without my knee would move inward when i pedal.

Another question, i am currently thinking about going to see a gait analysis b/c when i run i sometimes get dull stiffness/barely noticeable but annoying pains in my left knee and just curious if it could be due to biomechanics. Did you find them helpful? Where should i go to find one around me?

Do a google search on Anatomy Trains or KMI (Kenesis Myofascial Integration).  These are therapists who look at how movement is coordinated throughout the body and body parts.  Unlike a sports med doc, these therapists can and will take the time to figure out whats going on.

They are really good at figuring how things like how having a forward head posture can cause calf pain.

Good luck.  You've given this a lot of thought and a lot of effort.  I hope you can find the solutions you're looking for.  The answers will take you off the beaten track.

I don't know if my legs are same length or not but I have spent some time looking at my stride.  I tend to have a duck type walk (got it from my Dad, he looks like goofy).  During running over the last few years I have focused on straightening the stride out a bit.  I find it interesting that my left foot is now reasonably in line, but my right still wants to kick a bit out.  When I try to change it, my right knee hurts a bit.  So I've pretty much decided that to leave well enough alone.

You've checked the obvious like mid foot strike, 'run quietly', etc. for the foot issue?

Saw an infomercial about these $20 orthotics that were guaranteed to fix all your alignment problems.

(though for 20 bucks I'd probably secretly try them)
