Subject: RE: Whats the craziest thing youve put in a SN bag?A post from the forums where someone suggested that I had "Cheapened The Ironman Experience" because I did not go into the race "Undertrained". His idea was that because finishing the race was a fairly certain proposition for me, that I was missing out on what the Ironman was really about.
I peeled that out of my SN Bag to remind myself to suck all of the marrow out of the expeirence and enjoy every minute of what I was doing. (And I certainly did enjoy)
I also included a piece of paper with my run course songline on it. Mine was sung to the tune of Green Eggs and Ham for CdA and Horton Hears a Who for LP. For those not familiar with the idea of a songline. A songline (Or Dreaming Track) is a rhyme you repeat to yourself through your journey that describes what you see along the way. It is sort of a map or guide to help you find your way.
The songline is strongly rooted in the creation myth of Aborigine Culture. In it, the "Creator" walked the earth and sang about what he saw before him. In doing so, he gave names to things. In a way, he was singing the world into existence Helped me through the rough times but also reminded me where I was on the course Edited by WaterDog66 2008-08-13 4:56 PM
