From my experience with Performance clothing is you get what you pay for. The cheaper the clothes the poorer the quality.  I moved away from Performance brands once my distances increased beyond sprints and 20mile bike rides. They held up okay when I first used them starting out - so in that respect they are a good source for your initial investiment items.

Thanks,.... I'm curious if anyone has tried these specifically.

I may be a blue collar triathlete, and sorry that I have not specifically tried these either, but I'm very happy with 3-4 hour rides in my $20 performance-brand bike shorts... even if both of my manly thighs are paying for the privelege of advertising for the shop.

I like Verge and Castelli best. I have ridden on the performance brands a few years back, and was not dissatisfied. If they fit well for you and are the right price, then they are good, for you. For shoes, shorts and biked I say get the best, most comfortable fit you can afford.

Performance line is made by Pearl Izumi, its not as good as Pearl exclusive line itself but decent quality and affordable, good for shorter training rides and shorter races, I'm partial to the Pearl Ultrasensor for my longer rides because of the better shammy.
