Subject: Suffering minor cramping. What do people take the morning before?

I have been getting some minor cramping in the cycling leg.  I have a sprint triathlon tomorrow and want to make sure it is not a problem.  Looking at advice on supplements to take.  Do you take them that morning?  Where to you buy them?  New to this.

Since it is a sprint I usually don't eat during and just drink water.  Do others do more than this?  I will be racing hard for about 1:15 minutes.

Race day isn't the time to experiment, but cramping may be a sign of electrolyte imbalance.  Some people eat a banana or raisins for the potassium and it often helps.  You can get potassium tablets at the store (look with vitamins/supplements).

Cramping is most often due to fitness/pacing issues; try backing off slightly on the bike and see if that fixes the issue.

Supplements are not something that typically work instantly, but rather they work when taken over a period of time. Taking anything now is unlikely to provide any help. Cramping could arise from a number of things. Trying to solve the problem the day of the race may cause unexpected problems. This is the type of thing to work on during the training period.

Typically I would go with the herd on the "nothing new on race day" advice.
however, if you can locate a couple of e-caps (Endurolytes) prior to your race tomorrow it probably wouldn't hurt.

then figure out after the race tomorrow what food/drink/supplement you need to train with in the future.

Good luck and go have some fun!

What type of cramping? Is it muscle cramp or a pain your side. I read once that the pain in your side is caused from lack of oxygen to the intestines, (this may be false, but seems logical)and you feel it as a cramp in your side. If that is the case taking it back a notch always helps for that pain, at least for me. As far as muscle cramps goes I have never had that problem(except now I will today on my run =)).
