Subject: Fitting a road bike like a tri bike?
I'm just really getting into the tri's. I have a few sprints under my belt and am looking to finishing a 70.3 next year. I just got a new to me road bike and was wondering if anyone had a good website or advice and adjusting it to fit more like a tri bike. Or should I just go to a LBS and get fitted? And about how much should I pay for that?

You'll get the most speed gains by using clip on aerobars.  They will reduce your frontal area so drag is reduced.

I got clip on aerobars and a seatpost, that brought my seat forward of the seat tube.

You might check some references over on SlowTwitch for "Big Slam." The problem with going extreme on a road bike is that you end up way over the front wheel, and you lose a lot of stability.

Basics are just aerobars and a Profile Design Fast Forward seatpost (sorry, don't know who else makes seatposts that move the saddle forward)

I have a road bike with aerobars and was recently fitted more towards a tri position down in Salt Lake City. The fit is fantastic - I get a bit more power on the bike and when I come off the bike my legs are not as tired. He used the fist method - you can read more about it on slowtwitch.com. I wish I had done it earlier in the season. It cost $100 and took about 2.5 hours.
