Total Time = 37m 44s
Overall Rank = 8/
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 2/
Pre-race routine:

Up at 6:30am, had a MRP shake and headed for the race
Event warmup:

About 15min easy jog then a few strides just before the gun.
Run
  • 37m 44s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 06m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run overall. I hit my goal of sub-38min even though the wind was blowing and I went about 1.5 miles into it alone. I couldn't hang with the front 5 guys and there wasn't anyone else near me to work with.
What would you do differently?:

Still haven't done any speed work and only very minimal tempo training. I'm satisfied with where I am at this point in the season. I probably could have taken 10, 20, even 30 seconds off if I had been training specifically for road races.
Post race
Warm down:

Catch my breath and keep myself from spewing breakfast, then some walking and stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Speed training and the WIND.

Event comments:

Bothrooms were locked pre-race and they only had one water stop at the 3 mile mark which you hit again about 800m later on the return. Should have put it around the 2.5 mile mark.

The winner was a guy from Kenya...ran a blazing 31:50 at 5:05/mile pace!!! The female winner was the only girl to beat me. She ran the marathon at the Olympics in Athens last year so I don't feel so bad :) The 1st place guy in my age group was in the 35min range so I didn't have a chance of placing higher.
