Subject: RE: Anyone else have this problemI often feel like this on rest days, but you have to remember that not resting is the quickest way to injury. If I feel restless I usually go for a long walk and then head to the gym for a long stretching session. I stretch from head to foot and then spend 10 minutes in the hot tub and then go into the steam room. Personally I like to spend around 8 mins in the steam room and then have a cold shower, then repeat. Its also a great day to have a sports massage if you have any aches or pains. Its also a really good time to go over mental preparation for races- imagining what to do in each transition and how you will cope with any unexpected events etc This usually makes me feel great, I get the same relaxed sensation as if I had a hard training session (alright not quite the same ) and I know I have aided injury prevention by making my muscles more supple. Elongating the muscles also increases your stride and therefore speed and quickens recovery so you are ready for a good training session the next day! Good luck! |
