Okay, this may be a stupid question, but my brain can't process the answer for some reason. I am doing my first IM in LP next summer. In starting my insanity by reading about fueling etc, I have guestimated that I will need about 6 water bottles on the bike. Where do people put all of these if they want to stay with their fuel of choice? Is the answer that you make a concentrated bottle of something that stays with you the whole time and then just get new water bottles at the aid station? I'm just trying to figure out how I can stick with the Hammer stuff as the gatorade give me acid issues. Any help would be great.

Hey John - Good question. I am doing my first IM on Sunday in Louisville. I also wanted to use my own Infinit blend during the bike. What I am doing is mixing 2 concentrated bottles that I will start the bike leg with. These will last me about half of the bike. I will then put two more concentrated bottles in my bike special needs bag which you pick up at the half way point. You should be able to pick up the rest of your supplemental fluids at the aid stations. Good luck with you training

I had 2 bottles on the bike.  1 water, 1 concentrated nutrition to last me for 1 loop (i use carbo-pro).  I picked up my second bottle of nutrition for the 2nd loop at Special Needs.   So I grabbed new water bottles from the aid stations.  I brought all my gels with me from the start in a bento box.

Both posts refer to a "concentrate" bottle. Are you taking a swig straight from the concentrate bottle and washing it down with water?  Or are you putting some of the concentrate mix into a bottle full of water and diluting it?

If you're diluting it, are you doing this while riding the bike?  Do you stop for a minute to mix at the aid stations and then get going again?  Should I practice riding and mixing?  LOL!

Take a swig of your concentrated fuel source, then wash it down with plain water, which you can replenish at every aid station.

At my last IM (LP '08) I used one 1600 calorie bottle, and then plain water bottles from the aid stations (although I didn't use all that many since it was cool and pouring rain).

x2.  Sip from my concentrated bottle, sip from my water bottle.

Maine Rob used 1 bottle for the entire course, I used 1 per loop.  I couldn't handle the taste any stronger than what I needed for 1 loop.
