I saw this link on espn.com and thought it was nicely done.

Watching it motivates me to get up and run as soon as possible.

RIP Pre

Pre was incredible. His legacy lives through the Prefontaine Classic. The meet is next weekend, June 4. The world's best gather to honor a man who died to soon through their awesome performances.

Pre was the inspiration for two of my closest friends. They were in 6th grade when he died. They followed his career closely before his death. Those two guys went on the become accomplished runners. One of them finished second in the state high school cross country meet. Both went on to run in college.

I'm sure other Pre stories exist like mine. Just thought I'd share...

Even more inspiring is his famous qoute "To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift." Not just for athletic training. Think how wonderful life would be if we followed this in our dailey lives. At work, at home, with our friends, with our families. In every endevour if we understood what a gift these things are, and to just go through the motions and not do our best is truely a sacrifice of "the gift".

It's funny how a few words can rejuvenate and invigerate. I'm going to go play with daughter now, that gift deserves my best!
