Subject: PC help!
I have all my prior backups, etc on 2 external USD hard drives. I also have TONS of duplicate files, but they'd live in different folders. Such a G:\backups\April09\pictures\XXX.jpg and G:\backups\May09\pictures\XXX.jpg Mind you I have ~100gB of data going back to the stone age to deal with.

Would there be an easy way to remove duplicates? I realize I could search each and every file name and look for instances of it, but that would be 1/2 the solution and take forever. Besides, I'd need to know which duplicates I had or constantly search each and every file until done.

Software? Anything which looks bit for bit and says that 2 things are the same?

Dear Pitt83,

I have been using duplicate files deleter . It scans the files and compares them based on Byte for Byte Comparison, which ensures 100% accuracy & It's pretty effective with multiple settings on how thorough you want to be and it categorizes the results.
