Today I got up at my usual 7am and decided in my half glazed coma to call off of work today, then rolled over and went back to sleep. I got up at 10am, thouroughly stretched, got a cup o joe and sat on my couch and popped on the tv. Do not have to worry about the stress of dealing with family, friends, neighbors.....just me, my coffee and a couch. How many other people are out there taking the day off and enjoying it? So far I have watched two episodes of Family Guy and have started to watch 28 days later...gotta love the dvr. Having all this extra time means that I wil l be able to sneak in another long ride this week instead of only doing them on Sundays. I think I need to call off of work for no reason more often!

I have three weeks of vacation a year, so taking time off is not too much of an issue, since we only take one week long family vacation each year and I can dole out the other 10 days one or two at a time.  But when I only had one or two weeks (for the first 5 years I worked here), once or twice a year I would take a "mental health" day and do nothing.  I figured, there are people here who call in sick 10 or more days a year, year in and year out, and I NEVER EVER take sick days because I do not get sick. So I deserve it!  And of course I would time it to have no impact on my job.  It was great!  Glad you are enjoying yourself!!

Called in after a 10 am meeting, then went home and played playdough with my 3 year old daughter most of the day, then we played princes in the jungle (She was the princes, I was a monkey) This was a GREAT day!!!

Love taking "sick" days. Love to do "sick" things such as shopping, run errands and exercise because it's usually less crowded.

Brother not to rub it in, I work 9 days a month, get 15 vacation days and 15 paid sick days. I know exactly where you are coming from, earn and burn the days, now that's my philosophy. There is no incentive not too.
