Subject: RE: Help, I'm gonna be bad tonightYep, you'll have to make a decision. And failing to decide what you're going to do IS a decision. One of my favorite quotes for this type of situation: "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." You don't have to drink beer just because you have time to kill. You're the one in the driver's seat - it;s not like you're powerless in the situation! Why not take a walk instead of waiting at the bar? You're in town, it's a summer evening -- just stroll the streets and people-watch. Find a record store with listening stations and see what's new. Browse in a bookstore (gravitate toward the tri/sports section, of course...). Pick up a magazine and read and relax on a park bench. I have a 'night off' from a healthy diet every so often myself with a burger, fries, and beer. The important thing is to plan it, so you can cut back on calories and fat on the surrounding days to balance out the big meal. The other important thing is not to use one 'splurge' as an excuse to go all out. Just plan what you're going to have, enjoy it fully, and then move on. If you think you're going to be terribly bothered by guilt for eating one big meal, then just don't eat like that so you won't be playing the guilt game. |
