I'm not sure if the really classifies as a "Gear Review", but since I'm only looking into this for when I'm training on my bike, I'll put it here.

I'd like to join either Blockbuster online or Netflix for movie watching when riding my bike. They appear to be the same (price-wise) but Blockbuster also has 2 rentals from the local store. This has me leaning towards Blockbuster.

Any reason Netflix would be better?

Tri-C edged me out, I was getting ready to say that the last thread on this topic wasn't even cold yet.  I continue to vote for Netflix even if they do wind up being a few dollars more expensive just for the grief that B-Buster caused me over the years.

Sorry,

Just after I hit the send button, the thought of searching came to me. I usually search first, but I guess I was being lazy today.

Your willingness to pay more just to avoid BB is precisely why I am not certain that Blockbuster will continue as a stand alone concern.  Somewhere a couple years ago someone at their corporate office came up with the idea of vigourously pursuing late-fees.

While they may have reaped a few more dollars at first, it was at the cost of their customer brand + future business.

Personally, I may have rented from BB 3 or 4 times in the last 4 or 5 years because of that.

Netfliks?  Great business model and excellent customer service - count me in as an additional vote.

I have been studying Netflix from a financial standpoint for a few years and done a few analysis on their business model. I like the company, and their dedication to their customers is definitely a significant reason they do so well. Blockbuster has taken a more revenue focused model at the price of really taking care of their customers. You only have to look as far as the small print in their "no more late fee" message.

That and the fact that Netflix is now working to partner with TiVo to make their entire library on demand to compete with cable should show that they want to provide the services that their customer base want.

blah blah blah, sorry, I get carried away with that stuff. Basically, Netflix rules and Blockbuster drools, sums it up.
