Run
Comments: Streeeeeeetching the calf beforhand. NO PAIN! I went into this race with no illusions other than to try and run consistently and finish. More of a mind boost than anything else. This time last year I was running consistently in the low-8's, and this is the fastest I've gone since I tore my calf last August. Started slow, listened, and the leg said let's give it a go! So I go'ed. What would you do differently?: Nothing. This is a great jumping off race for me. And because I seem to gain strenght as I run, I think I can start looking at more distance. Happy girl here today. Post race
Warm down: Water and stretched while waiting for the rest of my group. Kendra did a PR at 32. Walked back to run in with Lucy. She and Jeff came in around 38. Race was only 15 minutes from home so wandered back there to post race stretch and fuzz kitties. What limited your ability to perform faster: Little brain barrier that was unsure how my calf would hold up. Guess I won't be needing THAT any longer! Event comments: Just so much fun for me - I needed this boost. The race volunteers were awesome! Two water stops at M1 and M2. Wish I'd known I was grabbing Orange (the color, not the flavor) Gatorade. Eeesh. But they were having so much fun too! Great energy. It was also nice that some of the elite runners warmed down back on the course and called out encouragement. Can you tell I'm in a really good mood?!? Last updated: 2006-02-01 12:00 AM

Lucky Kona Coffee. Water. Not a breakfast person, ate pasta last night. Cleaned house for an hour because the window installers are coming today.
Water. 25 minutes of stretching and light jogging. Boca PD and Rotary did a great job setting up the start of the event. I'd already gotten my race packet, chip pick up was a cinch. Found my neighbor Lucy, her niece Kendra and friend Jeff just before the race started. Nice to have someone to talk to. Good crowd!
