Help: Bottle Cage Throwing Bottles

Are you using the "Tall" bottles or "Regular" sized watter bottles? I have a behind the saddle bottle rack on my Tri Bike and Fixie, I think the brand is Profile. Any ways, what I have found:
1. Bottles with a tapper (thinner at the bottom than top) they get launched for some serious distance!
2. The shorter bottles stay put a lot better, the taller the bottle the greater the distance they seem to get ejected.

I've been using plain old 21oz Performance bottles back there and they work pretty good. Have not lost one yet. I find that the 28oz bottles regardless of the brand just get launched.

It's now a habbit to reach back there and push down on the bottles after a section of rough road. Last year while doing a large local ride, several times riders in front of me had bottles get lose. It's quite a sight to see 10 or so bikes serve and all yell bottle down at the same time.

I have the SPT and use Profile cages. The cheap plastic ones. I take a heavy-duty rubberband and double wrap it where the gasket on the cage is that increases the tension on the water bottles. I've never launched a bottle with that set-up. The rubberband needs to be replaced occasionally, especially in the summer, so I always replace it before a race as a precaution.

If they are made of metal, maybe you can bend them to get a snugger fit?
