Anyone going in the good friday road race in Hamilton?


They added the Sportif category so I'm considering trying it out!  Still a bit scared of a peloton during a race though

I'm not sure if I'll do it this year or not. I did it last year as my first road race and boy did I ever get my butt handed to me lol. Stayed at the back of the peloton (bad idea) and got dropped with a few others. We stayed together until the final lap when I "hit the wall" and almost never made it back to the finish.

I just wonder how popular this new category will be? I'm sure it will be a mix of riders from the rookies to the ones that should be riding with the "big boys/girls" but don't want to buy a race licence.

ooohh I've never been in a road race either but I figure this might be a good one to try?!

We watched it and then road the course backwards - once!      The Waterloo cycling club has a race team this year and one of them came 1st in one of the divisions.   There were alot of people in the Sportif division.  I agree with you, it is hard to put in a great performance on the first race of the year so early in the season.    I guess unless all you do is ride. 

We often ride that route in the summer - swim at Gulliver's and then hop on the bike.

I talked to a guy that did the race and he said it was really good, but had to be altered because a driver was killed during it (elderly lady drove into a ditch). He was racing M2 and said it was a good course and very competitive.
