Subject: Motionbase or not....

I'm debating about joining Motionbase but before I pull the trigger I was just wondering if BT ever kicked around the thought of a similar setup on our blogs?

Route tracking is definitely on the short list of "must do enhancements".  It'll start with a Google map implementation with elevation with probably also the ability to just have a URL to other services like Motionbased or gmap-pedometer.

Most likely we'll start off with a simple version just to get it out there quicker. It's the kind of thing that can have all kinds of bells and whistles so I'm sure it'll get regular upgrades while it's still relatively new. I have a pretty long list of features I want it to have.  As to when it'll happen, we'd like some version deployed by the end of the year at the latest.

Also, it'll be free, for all users.

are you thinking of some sort of upload process from a GPS device into BT?

Uploading GPX files? Yes.

A custom upload process that would load data directly to BT when you download from the Garmin unit to your pc isn't out of the question.  I think MB has an API for that, but without more research we can't promise specifics or give dates.

The whole area of geocoding and working with geo data on the web is exploding pretty quickly right now. The next 6 months could have some major changes. I know peoples expectations (mine included) are certainly higher than just one year ago.

I'm leaning toward signing up for Motionbase for one year.... by then it sounds like BT will have a deliverable....

you guys just go above and beyond my expectations
