Comments: I started off what I thought was well but my first mile was slower than I expected. By the second lap that pre race cup of water was filling my bladder. Another racewalker had pulled even with me so my temptation to hit the trees was lessened (Competive juices were flwoing). We stayed neck and neck (he had tried to cath me at a previous race and couldn't run me down) untill aboutt he 3 mile mark at which he let me go (I did up the pace for my finish kick also). What would you do differently?: Drinking the cup of water made me very uncomfortable when my bladder was full. I need some water to go with the gel but not the whole cup. Post race
Warm down: Found a restroom! Walked around a bit to cool off. Helped take down the race event site. What limited your ability to perform faster: I need to do more intervals to help my body feel comfortabel witht he faster turn over rate. I really beleive I can get my pace done to sub - 10 minutes. I got up at 5 am had a Bagel and took off for the city. I had to stop at Great Harvest Bread in S. Mpls. to pick up the awards (loaves of bread). I arrived at the race site at about 7 am.
I did my usual stretching routine and then racewalked about a quarter of the way around the lake to warm up the legs (mainly to get the chin cramps out of the way.
Had a hammer gel just before the start 9and a cup of water that came back to haunt me)
