Subject: Jumping In With Both Feet!!Well, I have been hanging around the site for 8 months or so, posted a few race reports and read a bunch of articles, posts, rr's and the like. I feel it is time to actually join the community. This place seems like an awesome support community, very supportive and a place to potentially meet some awesome athletes. My name is Keith and I am 42 years old. I recently relocated from Rochester, NY to Cary, NC. I was getting into the idea of trying a triathlon up north, but the relocation got in my way. I am now settled in down here in the south, and I am back back to training. Running has always been my weakness, so I am concentrating on that the most this winter after biking all summer. I am an ex-high school swimmer, so I know I can pick that back up easily. My runnning is improving, and I can now run without injuring myself every other time out. I have done a few 10K's and have an 8 mile run scheduled for this evening. I am working up a running and tri schedule for 2007, which definitely includes the Myrtle Beach Half Marathon in February. My 2007 long term goal is to finish the Duke Liver Center Half Ironman in September 2007. I will be evaluating myself during this year to see if I think I can possibly enter and finish IMFL in 2008. Reading Runnergirl's race report from IMFL 2006 and some other IM race reports has given me the desire to challenge myself and to eventually become an IronMan. Regards and good luck to all of you in meeting your own personal challenges. I will look forward to receiving support from all of you as I try to reach mine. Keith |
