Subject: Why am I pissed?

My dad's wife tells him she wants a divorce 2 weeks before his 130th birthday (he's a twin), and 2 weeks before a family reunion in FLA that my Dad & his brother have been planning for 2 years.

I try to convince him to go to the reunion by himself, that all that lawyer crap can wait.  He says that's not the reason he's not going.  Within 4 days all the paperwork was done.  Then they decide they are going to work on it.

I can't help but think that the timing of her announcement is a deliberate test on her part to see if he will skip the celebrations and spend teh stupid weekend with her instead.

Why am I so pissed about this?  He's been dealing with her for 20 years, so why am I letting it bother me???

Just a guess here:  Because he's your dad AND you love him AND you don't want to see him have to deal with crap like that.

I hear you

The late in life step parent is sometimes a little difficult to deal with.

The way I look at it is that my old man has been through a lot more than I have and I trust his judgement.

Of course I can read women about as well as I can read chinese so take that as you will.

Perhaps she is a selfish b*tch who cares only about herself and her needs.  Seems to be the going trait for most people lately.

I like what Richie said.

Your dad gets to live his life - and make his own mistakes (if they are mistakes) - just like you do.
