Hi Everyone,

I am new to this board. I will share some advice with you about what happens when you don't allow for recovery...

I have participated in 3 sprint duathlons and 2 sprint triathlons. Last year I thought I would bump up my training to increase my performance for the season. I didn't rest at the end of the previous season, and boy did I pay for it!!! I was stiff all of the time, my performance didn't improve and I ended up getting sick, unmotivated and my mood seriously suffered. I couldn't compete at all!

I have learned my lesson, and am resting way more this year! I can't believe it happened to me, but it was so hard to "take it easy". I have learned a lot from this, but I wouldn't want anyone else to go through it.

Have fun and rest up!
JB

since tomorrow is a snow day, I'll consider that permission to rest.

Thanks for reminding us that rest is just as important. We can often leave this out of our workout schedule and we should adding it. Glad to have you here as I am sure you add give some great advice.

I agree totally, what I am here to learn is to train well, race well, taking the middle path.

I haven't had any injuries yet, but I constantly need to remind myself to slow down, especially when running. I have found the treadmill great for that, so much so that I am considering using it a little during the summer.

It's so hard to get out of the mind set of train more-race faster isn't it?
