Subject: Bursitis on the sit bonesI believe i have bursitis on my sit bones. More specifically, only on the right side....for whatever reason. I'm a new cyclist (only biking a couple months) and i just changed to a Adamo saddle last month. The first week or so of riding the Adamo, my butt was extremely sore. I've read this is normal so i wasn't particularly worried. However, while taking a shower last night, i noticed some swelling on the right sit bones and a little bump....which is really sore (not painful, but sore). After reading the net a bit, i'm pretty sure it is bursitis caused by cycling. Most treatment that i've read about is ice, rest, and NSAIDS. Now, i have my first Tri next weekend and another at the end of September.....so rest is really out of the question. I iced it last night and took an Alleve this morning. It doesn't bother me at all, only when i get on my bike. Sitting in a chair is ok and nothing else bothers it. So i'm wondering what the common belief is around here about working around bursitis. I'm sure this is fairly common and something alot of people experience. Can anyone give me some advice on how to work around this while i'm training for these Tri's the next month or so? |
