hey! does anyone have any recommendations for stores that specifically sell gear for tri's? i am still on the hunt for a heart rate monitor that will give me my hr, running distance, cycling distance and cadence. i know about the garmin 305 but i dont know if i want to commit to something so expensive. also, what can i use to track my swimming?

does anyone know about the garmin 405?

Tribe Multisport is a great spot for one stop shopping. The other place I know of is Triple Sports. Both are located in Scottsdale but pretty central to the valley.

I don't know a whole lot about the Garmin 405 but it's going to be the same or more as the Garmin 305. I think it is more of a watch face with some touch features instead of the larger 305.

The best way that I know of to track your swimming is to log your workouts into the logs here.

Good luck making decisions!

Unfortunately you can't swim with either of the Garmin's (305/405). I think Polar makes a couple models that you can swim with and get all biking data. I am pretty sure tribe had some last time I was there.

If you are only seeking a watch. Sport Chalet, 's, REI and online stores will carry them. Running stores will also carry watches. The Garmin series are not meant for swimming. I believe Timex has a watch series that can be used for all three sports.

One option is to use a Polar for the swim and run and have a bike computer mounted on the bike.

I have raced with two watches before. The polar to track swim and total time and the garmin 305 for bike and run.

Also, check out that Tribe actually updated their website. "Coming soon since 2005".

My favorite is TriSports.com | 4495 S. Coach Dr. | Tucson, AZ 85714

Gives you a chance to buy more than just a HRM.  Plus you can practically do an indfoor tri there while trying on shoes/fitting on your new tri bike/and buying your new wetsuit!
