Their was an accident this morning on River rd at Frankfort av. A biker's front wheel slipped down in a crevice and flipped over. One of our club members said it was bad, broken jaw, teeth, shoulder, possible neck injury. So be careful in this area, it is the intersection just past Searay of Louisville on your right. I feel bad for the guy she said he was French Canadian and didn't speak english well. We did have one tri guy on our club ride this morning who rode with us for awhile.

Wondering how that happened?  Was is something on the road that he got hung up on, or did he swerve off the road?  Ive been down that stretch of road dozens of times, and dont remember anything remarkable other than the rail road crossing up ahead thats a little dicey.

Not to sure she said it was like an expansion joint where franfort ties into river, it must have been wide enough for his wheel to slip into. I should have stopped in my car, but ems was already there. I would stay wide left at this intersection.

Ugh, hate hearing this kind of thing.  My dad broke his hip in a similar accident 2 years go involving a railroad track.  Anything like those crevices and tracks freak me out.

I just got through riding River Rd. about 10 minutes ago (for the first time) and I was suprised how bad certain spots were. Just did an easy out and back to stretch the legs after a long car ride today, but there seemed to be dozens of cracks, potholes, etc. that could jump up and bite you if you're not careful.

Its really just the first 2 or 3 miles until you get up to Zorn Ave by the water tower.  Once there, its smooth sailing until you get close to the Harrods Creek bridge, but its mostly nuisance type stuff.

The roads are NOT perfect on the course. You have to keep your eyes open for cracks in the road, especially by the white line (shoulder- but there isn't a shoulder!).

I wish the roads had a shoulder to ride on, to allow more space for cars to pass.

That's so sad that his race is over before it started. I hope he will be OK. Very sad stuff indeed.
