Hi All!

I need your suggestion on how to use my 2009 Ironman Lake Placid as a United Way fund raiser. I am a United Way volunteer who works with companies to drum up employee contributions to the United Way thru payroll deductions. It's a perfect match with my career as an Employee Benefits Advisor/Broker.

Anyways, the United Way is always looking for new and innovative ways to stay in the community spotlight and of course make more money for local community initiatives. Can you help me brainstorm in how we can get this up and running?

Thoughts:
1. Have Silver/Gold/Platinum sponsors for my race. Maybe $50 Silver, $100 Gold and $200 Platinum.
2. Ask people to sponsor per mile, say $1 per mile.

Our local newspaper is always looking for a story to write. Maybe I can call someone there and have them highlight my efforts for the community (and perhaps a selfish plug for my company).

Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Steve

OT:  your avatar doesn't look so much like a "Steve" to me.  Those are some man-boobs you've got.

I always liked the look of the 1940's bomber girls painted on WW2 planes... so I photoshoped one on a photo of my Cannondale Slice.

Here's a better resolution version of it.

Good question but where is your log book and your race history?

No log book. It's all just a blur. I've been a mtn bike rider/racer forever and caught the triathlon bug last year. I did a 70.3 in Providence, RI this year. A few little races here and there to prep for it. I'm now prep'ing for the Hartford Marathon. I'm just looking at all of this as training for the IMLP next year.
