Subject: 55ish miles up 289 on Saturday 9-6-08

I'm planning on heading from Prosper to Sherman on 289 and back tomorrow.  Would anyone care to join me?

 And I'm no speed demon 16-17 mph average.

I rode this area once and don't remember too much chip seal but pretty sure it was there.  Most of the road was 2 lane country road if I remember but most had pretty big shoulders.  It was not bad overall though.

I've been as far as Gunther on 289.  Wide shoulders, there is chip seal but they used actual chips instead of the whole rock.  It's there but not bad.  Once you hit Grayson county, it's very smooth.

The road in Grayson county are smooth as a baby's butt.  289 around Celina is rough compared to that.  Nice wide shoulders with convenience stores every 12-15 miles.  Once you get out of Celina, no stop lights or signs.

 It's almost worth it to drive to Gunter (12ish miles north of 380) for the smooth roads.

Awesome! I'll keep this in mind for my next 100 ride from Frisco! Since Celina is not an option now, I need new ideas. Also, the 75 service road north of Anna is great riding as well up towards Sherman.
