[/QUOTE Any cheap places to stay?  The hotel that set up posted a link to looks way too pricey.  I told my husband I would do it if I could get a room cheaply.

I really want to do it.  How hilly are the hills in Roanoke?  Monsters?? I see they're described as rollers but whenever I see that description I find enormous climbs stuck in there (see I love the tavern...or check my bikle routes for tavern tri...there's a bear in that course)

As for hotel prices...just depends on how close you want to stay to the race.  If you stay in Roanoke you have lots of options... the closer you go to the race the fewer they become.

As for the course.  I have not ridden it.  But the feedback I have gotten from folks who have has ranged from it's not bad at all, to it really sucks!

I rode with a group this morning that claims its not bad at all.  But they slowed the ride down to an avg of 25 to allow me to keep up.  It was a pace line ride, but i was at the back and to say i kept up would be a loose interpretation (they had to to stop twice to keep me up).  I managed to stay with them the last 5 to 10 miles... but I really had to work.

Thats the best I can tell you until after this weekend as I plan on riding the course Sunday.

Let ya know

Everyone ready for this race?  This was my favorite race last season, so I've been looking forward to it this year.

Good luck folks. I decided to pass....

1  price of gas and some stations still not getting good shipments ...2 house is a wreck and I got too much to do after the season training of neglect ....3 need to get LONG RUN mojo going for the half mary....4  I trained mostly flat ride/run and Roanoke is definitely not flat
