Anyone signed up for this ? A short sprint/supersprint @ NOMAD aquatic center in Huntersville. Only $ 50 (+ $10 USAT fee) until August something.

Looks like last year was the first one.. about 500 people. Sounds good to me.

I am looking at this as my first race, trying not to rush my training, I may do one in Aug in Chapel Hill just because a friend is going to race as well.  I should be registered this week for the race, looks like a great venue.  Nervous but looking forward to it.

This is very similar to my first, and so far only tri, the MAP also in Huntersville. I think you'll really like it. Good luck and I bet you'll do well. You will definitely have fun.

I did this race last year and it was my second tri.  It is very friendly for first timers.  Naturally, it starts with a seeded start pool swim.  The lanes are very wide and passing or letting people by is pretty easy.  The bike course is hilly with a couple of decent ones, but nothing to bad.  The only minor annoyance for me was the run exit from the transition area.  It went out of the back of the transition area behind the building, onto the grass that was a little sketchy from the feet of hundreds of previous runners, then down a narrow chute with a jink at the end up on to the sidewalk down the back of the building.  This wasn't an area where you could actually run fast!  Not that I could, anyway.  The run course was kind of hilly through a neighborhood adjacent to the aquatics center and went along the road on the grassy shoulder.  I thought I wasn't going to like that segment, but it turned out to be not much of an issue.

All in all, it was fun and had a very friendly atmosphere.  I know the couple that started it and it is a good cause too.

Looking forward to the race, almost through my first mos training regiment, and starting to see some progress.  Did my 250 yds in pool and med pace and then off to a 1.5 mile run and really felt good.  And that was after a full work day and evening, dinner and bath regiment with my kids.  Feeling more confident every week.  Thanks again for the advice.

I did this one as my first tri ever and am registered for it again.  I echo what trinewby said.  That description was very accurate.  It was a fun event.

They are going to change the run course for this year though to eliminate a repeat of a loop. Should be a good change.

Good luck.

We need to all meet up on race day and at least say hi, if not do a training ride the week before, etc. I've actually gotten back in the pool this week. Novel concept, eh ?
