I know the "offseason" is still a long way off, but I am already starting to write my plan for next year.  I am planning to have an extrememly run focused plan for the winter but want to certainly maintain my bike fitness.  What is recommended for this type of offseason plan.  My volume at the end of this season should be around 75-80 miles running and 500 cycling per month.

this coming up off season will be my first as a triathlete.  I know I will continue to swim and run at lunch time and ride the bike randomly on the trainer and outdoors once the snowmobile trails get nice and packed down (one of the best times you can have on a mtn bike), but........my main training will be skiing, skiing, and a little more skiing....oh wait a snow storm....call in to work for some more skiing.  May not be for everyone, but it is a great work out.

Well...there isn't much chance of snow down here on the gulf coast, so I am not sure that plan would work to well Wink

Here's a starting point:

M - run
T - bike intervals (45-60min), run
W - run
Th - bike intervals(45-60min), run
F - run or rest
Sa - bike intervals or long bike, run
Su - run

Basically, design a week that you can do week after week after week.  And then do it.

My off season training is cross country skiing, both striding - with the dogs in the backcountry, and skating.

Maybe I'll swim or bike on the trainer or run on the treadmill occasionally. Yeah, right.

my offseaon is a swim/run focus after a few weeks off.

starting out just getting frequency up in both sports to the point where i am running 6 days a week and swimming 3-5 depending, bike 1-2 days once the weather gets cold, and running slowly building up.

around new years the bike workouts start coming back into the picture, running is up more, and structured swimming starts up.

as the weather gets warmer i start to shift out of the 20-25k a week in the pool in favor of a bit more riding.
