I had one of those sold under the name Prelude, just a different paint scheme.
Here's what I did:
1. Got rid of the stand, just unbolt it and throw it out, it's aweful!
2. Take the tires off and put on Velox tape on the rims to cover the spoke holes.
3. Inflate those tires to some proper pressure, like at least 80psi, or better still, buy better tires and inflate to 120psi
(this is actually the only thing that will make you a bit faster
)
4. I took the handlebar off
(took the brakes off too
), turned it upside down and sawed off the drops with a hecksaw.
5. Put the brakes on again as you see on the picture.
6. I bought aerobars and installed them with aerobottle
(all for the look, really...
)
7. Bent the seat post forward with a tool from Home Depot for electrical conduits
8. Put on different pedals
9. I put on a different seat
(harder one, but felt better on longer rides, but you can leave the old one
)
10. Cover the name with some stickers and you can fool anyone.
NB This is NOT gonna make you faster as I have experienced.

That's the most impressive transformation by ingenuity I've seen. You should consider getting into bike building.
