Seems like the run is my weakest of the three. Might have something to do with the Achilles tendonitis I'm getting over. I'm wondering about the importance of brick training bike-run.

Just found this and kind of answered my question. I need to do some bricks.

Bricks are good to get used to running off the bike.

They are also good to monitor if you are going faster each week/month by doing the same course.

They are also good for time management, for example if you have a bike planned in the morning then a run planned in the afternoon, you can do a brick and fit them all in at one training session, saving lots of time.

I just do bricks a month or two out from races and every so often over summer. I don't really like doing bricks or see a huge benefit from doing them. They are good if you are just starting out triathlon to get the feeling of running off the bike.

This is my personal experience/opinion, it will differ between most people and may be some scientific research saying they are beneficial however.

Happy bricking

I read somewhere that instead of full on bricks, one should try to hit "transitonal runs" where you do a run of 10-20 minutes immediately after almost all bike rides - not saying I am doing it consistently, but I did think it is a working theory...

to run well off the bike bricks are very important!  like you, I am getting over an injurt (PF) and have not been doing enough running.  today after a decent swim and bike I died on a 3-mile run.  bike/run brick are pay big dividend imo!

That's what I do. Almost every ride ends with a 5k or a 2.5k

Did a brick today. Did a nice 20 mile bike ride. Discovered my saddle had loosened up and moved back about an inch. Explains why my last ride felt weird. After the ride I walked 5 minutes, then ran for 10 and walked 5 minutes. Took it easy because the tendonitis. Felt really, good. Next race is 9/20 I'll be adding some bricks to my training.
