Is there any such product that allows you to tow you bikes and maybe a cargo box mounted on a trailer behind you vehicle? I swear I've seen something like this but can't remember where.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for. It's a hitch mounted bike rack. It's not a trailer but it does use the trailer hitch.

It's pretty expensive to get a full trailer with registration, etc just to carry bike. I'd do hitch mounted rack and box on the roof.

Wow that's expensive.  Sears had small ~4x6' fold-able trailer on sale last month for $375, they also sell top carriers and you can get a 2 bike trap rack for $60.

Also, Harbor freight has a 40"x48" trailer for $199.

Just a thought before you start carrying your bike on a trailer type carry system. Make sure you have good cleaning supplies with you. Your bike and whatever else gets every bit of road gunk flying up from your vehicle. Top/roof mount has much less road grime.

Drive through FL in the bi-annual love bug seasons everything gets hit and the bug guts are highly acidic!

Cuckoo covers, expensive yes but perfectly solves the problem.  I've used tarps & duck tape/ropes on my 1400 mile treks to NY and back with the bike(s) on the hitch rack.

Wow.  Those things look AWESOME.  I think I need to seriously consider purchasing some because I move with my bikes so often (5 moves in the last 8 years, bikes have made 4 of those).  On the last drive from SD to FL I actually got some rusting on my bikes...I believe it was from driving through an area that had heavily salted roads and not getting to clean the bikes off right away.

I think a whole bike cover would also be nice for when I pitch my bike into the cab portion of my truck.  I'm always worried that I will get chain grease all over everything.  I may seriously have to consider these for my next PCS.
