Subject: Seat Height for Cervelo Team Soloist

OK, now that I’ve gotten rid of the ice cream headache from reading the epic “So why is it????” thread, (elitist cyclists, feel free to respond to this question), I’ve got a question about the seat height of my Cervelo Team Soloist (not a very controversial topic).

Right now I’ve got my bike set up for road riding position.  This bike has a reversible seat post head.  So to configure it for triathlon, I’m going to put on the reversible seat post head, and aero bars.

Here’s my question:  will I move the seat height up or down to account for the aero bars and forward seat post position?

P.S. I’m not going to pop for another 100 plus dollars for another “professional” fitting.  The road fitting I received was crap; I’ve tweaked it several times myself.  It wasn’t worth the time or money.

Thanks,

Ralph

Simple geometry.

As you move the seat forward, the length between your saddle and the bottom bracket shrinks.

Therefore you need to raise your seat a bit.

Your seat's too high.

Or, your seat's too low.

There ya go!

Never discuss politics, religion or seat height in polite company!

I purchased a Soloist last December and was fit for both road & aero. I used the stock Selle San Marco seat for road and the Forte tri saddle I had been using on my old setup for the aero setup. The extra thickness of the tri saddle meant no height adjustment required since it already moved me forward enough.

If your road setup has your seat so far back that reversing the knuckle moves you WAY forward, you may be ok with only a slight change.
