Subject: E470 Trail
For those in South Denver, i need help navigating the E470 trail.   I live in Parker, so i usually get on the trail either at the Jordon or Chambers Road exit and head west.

However, i'm not sure at what point i can get to the north side of the trail.   Once i get to the I-25 split, it takes me south along the I-25 and down in Meridian and the business office areas.   I want to stay west and continue on, perhaps all the way to Chatfield.....or however far it goes.    But i can't find where to make the change at.

Can anyone tell me the best way to ride where i can stay west toward Chatfield?   I don't care if it's on the north or south side of the E470 trail.....i just want to stay on it.    Am i missing a turn or something?

I live in Parker also and ride 470 frequently.  I think what you need to do instead of going south at 470/I25 is to go north just about 1/4 mile.  you will ride under 470 then make an immediate left (west and get back on the trail.  then it continues west all the way to Golden if you want to go that far.  I've attached a link to one of my routes that might be helpful.  keep in mind on the way out from Parker I am on Lincoln but the return ride is on the 470 trail.

Tomorrow morning I am doing a long ride (100-miles) from home.  I just want saddle time so it will be a pretty easy pace.  If you (or anyone else) would like to join drop me a message.  I'll be leaving Parker at 7am and heading west on 470 to the Platte River Trail/Chatfield...then to Clear Creek and eventually to Golden.  I realize you probably aren't interested in going 100...but you could alter the route to what you would like to ride.

eta: hopefully the link shows this time!

so when i get to the I-25 split, just head north under the 470 and then back west?   do i cross the intersection before i head north?   how do i get under the 470?

Take a look at Ray's map link.  Just before I-25 you'll still be on the south side of 470 and will hit Jamaica St.  Cross the street but then go north and under 470.  Then you'll see the trail pick back up heading west.  It meanders north a little along the light rail track and then heads back south then west along Nordstroms, Best Buy, etc.

From there you just stay on it all the way past Santa Fe and you'll head towards Chatfield.  To stay on the 470 trail, you'll want to take the right across the bridge, then go left just past the bridge.  If you go right after crossing the bridge, you'll pick up the platte river trail.  If you don't cross the bridge you'll continue into Chatfield park.

Came accross this nugget on google, nice trail overview.

Hover over any trail, and you can click to focus on that route.  It will include crossing trails as well.

I had trouble finding my way the first time I rode that trail too...fortunately, I was riding east on the 470 trail and was able to follow another biker which led me under 25 and 470 to the trail on the other side. The most confusing part is Jamaica street (follow the directions from the other poster!) where you have to ride on the road north/south (depending on what direction you're going) to hook back up to the trail. That google map link was awesome! Thanks! I usually ride on Jordan road up to Cherry Creek Park, but I may try that other trail instead so I don't have to ride directly on Jordan.

I know you live in Parker, but if you're looking for another route my husband and I do a loop called "The Tour of Denver." We start at Cherry Creek Park, ride up to REI, hook up to the Platte and ride that to the 470 trail then East to the Jordan exit which takes us back to Cherry Creek. It's a great ride....about 60miles. It would probably be longer for you if you started in Parker, but it's pretty fun.
