So we, my wife and I, were all set to go on a boot camp weekend at Canyon Ranch in Miami in April and it has been canceled. We were the only people to sign up for the weekend, not really sure why they cancelled over 2 months ahead of time, but they did. Now we are looking for other suggestions. Location doesn't really matter, but we are looking for a complete package deal, meals, lodging, classes (nutrition and fitness) and body assessments. All of this was going to be done at Canyon Ranch.

Have any of you done this? She was thinking maybe Colorado or Utah now, but I can't seem to find any packages. I haven't contacted any of the resorts to see if they can put something together for us.

I welcome all ideas and recommendations. Thanks

wow that sounds like fun.

However, and clearly I don't get the point of it, buy why travel somewhere else to presumably workout all day long. Wouldn't it make more sense to do something close to home under the assistance of a personal trainer or something. I mean it could still be a luxurious type of thing, fancy fat free dinners and all that, but you would have all the comforts of home because you would be at home.

[conflict of interest alert... I work for Canyon Ranch]

Sorry about that.  We weren't getting all that much interest for our 'Weekend Warrior' program in Miami, so we shut it down.  There are still about 40 other activites going on each day, but hey- I understand.

How about the Canyon Ranch in Tucson?  It's "Mountain Bike" week in the middle of April, but really, any time you go it's boot camp week, as there are 10 things going on every hour, and most of them are fitness/exercise related.  CR Tucson has a much larger selection of fitness, hiking, biking etc than our Miami property,  with some amazingly brilliant nutritionists and our ExPhys team is pretty spectacular as well, as it includes a pro-level cyclist, and guys that have done Kona and Boston multiple times.  They're the real deal and have the tools and facilities to make it work.  Heck, I'll do laps with you at lunch and make sure that you get to ride Mt. Lemmon.  Even have Docs if you need/want them.

April is gorgeous in Tucson.  Everything is blooming, highs in the 80's lows around 50.

ok- sorry for the advertisement, but it sounds like Canyon Ranch Tucson is exactly what you're looking for.  The whole, all-inclusive package.

if you have any questions- you can PM me.  I'd love to tell you more, but I don't wanna' be selling on this forum.  (sorry if I offended anyone)

This might not exactly be what you're looking for, but how about something like hiking the Grand Canyon from rim-to-rim?  I think that would be an awesome "fitness" vacation, plus the views would be incredible!  Not to mention the fact that you'd get to gloat to all your friends and family that you hiked across the GC...how many folks can say that?   I've read that it can be done in 1 day (difficult, but doable) but lots of hikers opt for the 2-day with either camping or lodging overnight.   This is definitely something that I want to do before I drop dead.

I second the Grand Canyon trip. Outstanding idea ! I did that last year as a R2R2R and it was a great day - long day - but still nice. One way would be doable in a day for sure but likely short notice for any camping in the canyon.

I was looking at going to Zion NP this April to do some running / hiking too. It looked pretty awesome as well !

Well the Rim to Rim thing is cool and active it sounds like the complete opposite of what he is asking for.  That's a bit more of a rough it not so all inclusive type thing.  sounds like he wants expert advise and to be pampered a tad bit.  I second the recommendation for Canyon Ranch here in Tucson (I don't work for them. ) as it seems to be exactly what he is after.  I am sure there are other places that do the same thing but the Canyon Ranch one just so happens to be the one I am familiar with.  It is in an outstanding part of town and I second the bit about that time of year being the perfect time of year to visit Tucson

I've looked at the other programs at Canyon Ranch and they are possible. Red Mountain Spa in St. George is another possibility. That weekend warrior program was just a great mix of different things, runs on the beach, yoga, rock wall climbing, other fitness classes, I think there was a couple of nutrition classes all your meals prepared for you. I don't know if massages and what not were included in the package, but the facility has all of that as well. We were so looking forward to a getaway that would be a full body recharge.

I don't really think the mountain bike adventure is what my wife is looking for, although the time frame is perfect. Can we work with someone at Canyon Ranch to put together a 4 day thing that is all pre-planned. I just think we will get the most out of something if it is all prearranged and planned out for us.

As for why do we want to get away to do this rather than just get some personal training at home. At home you are never truly away from anything. Our parents are 15 minutes away, its harder to forget about work when you are right there, cooking meals isn't the same. We do just want to be taken care of a little bit while polishing up some of our training routines and really getting us ready for the summer months. We live in NE OH and want to get to some place more exotic for a little while.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I really need to get this on the schedule again. My wife is having a few stressful weeks at works and needs to have this to look forward to help her over the hump. Thanks
