I've been informed today that I might be going to our Ottawa office to do some work 3-4 days a week for 2-3 weeks in June.  I can run & bike outdoors, but looking for a place to go swim that will allow a short membership, and also a potential OWS location would be good also?

Anyone? Anyone? Laughing

Swimming pools are listed here: http://www.ottawa.ca/residents/parks_recreation/facilities/pools_en... schedules are here: http://www.ottawa.ca/residents/parks_recreation/swimming/schedules/... fees are here: http://www.ottawa.ca/residents/parks_recreation/swimming/fees/index... although you're probably better off paying the $4.85 per visit.

OWS in a ton of locations.  The beaches listed at http://www.ottawa.ca/residents/parks_recreation/seasonal/ss/beaches... are a good start.

I recommend Britannia Beach in Ottawa.  Great location and every year they hold a TRI at this location for the OWS.  I did the OLY tri last year around mid June and the water temp was great!  Also, if you're interested they are holding a tri on June 11 this year....   http://somersault.ca/eventottawariverkeeper.htm

Happy training and enjoy Ottawa!

Ray,

I'm from the Ottawa Valley so I know that area pretty good.  PM me if you want anymore information on places to train.  Have a good one!

Looks like I'll be in Ottawa all next week and probably staying near the airport.  So I found Mooney's Bay Park as a possible OWS location.  Only 4-5k from the airport.

Can you swim there even if the lifeguards aren't on duty?

If I remember correctly, its all swimming at own risk if their are no lifeguards!

The only place I will OWS swim around here is Meech lake in Gatineau park. Not as close as the swimming in town..........but it is pristine and gorgeous.

Not a fan of swimming in Mooneys Bay or the Ottawa river. Varying levels of pollution.
