Subject: Viewing other logs, weekly totals

Hey guys,

With the monthly challenges, I have run into an issue when I view the logs of others to get their training info for the spreadsheet.  If someone has a swim goal in meters and has their settings in meters, when I view their log the weekly total (calender) it shown in yards.  The daily inputs are seen in meters though.

It appears that the Calender weekly totals are seen per the individuals setting looking at the log, not the settings of the log being looked at.  To verify, I had an someone setup in meters look at my log and the weekly totals were in meters.  Is this intentional or unintentional?

Don

Can you check this again? We made a few tweaks.

Hey Ron,

Ok now I see all the inputs in yards, Daily and Week totals.  This means its all per my settings.  I'd like to see it all in the native Meters.  That way I can just pluck their totals in meters, same as their goal.

Ok, I think you just need to change your default setting to 'meters' when collecting data from the report totals of other members, then switch it back after you are done but before you log your personal workouts.

Right?  Does this work?

That is one way of doing it yes.  Or just convert their metric goals over so I don't have to mess with it!

I was curious because it was half-way there before with the daily inputs in metrics, I thought was a bug not seeing the totals in metrics!  Go back

Hi guys...

This may be a related issue (or a complete non-issue).

If you link to my log (calendar view, haven't check blog view) all the results are metric.  My default setting is miles, yards, etc. and if I log in the results are in those units.  Is this a bug, or is the calendar rendered in a default metric view for 'guest' users?  If the latter, is there a URL parameter that can be passed to dictate which should be used?

Thanks...

The Calendar view defaults to Metric units for guests and the Blog view defaults to English units. If we set both to default to one, we'd get a request to switch to the other.  I think this is a pretty good compromise because it makes the data available in both with minimal overhead.

For guests, I suppose we could set all views to display in the units set by the log owner, but that would result in removing some flexibility.

I guess I'm on the fence about this one. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Putting a switch in the URL isn't something I'm crazy about. I'm not a fan of command-line web sites.

Out of curiosity, what flexibility would be lost if the guest view is dictated by the log owner?
