After watching the World Junior Tournament I am reminded what hockey is supposed to look like - not the clutch and grab stuff that passes for our professional league. Watching these kids give their heart and soul for the glory of their country and the game should remind everyone who is longing for the return of the NHL just what a poor product has been thrust upon the fans.

Way to go Canada - finally ending the drought and bringing gold back from the tournament!

I've been watching my son and other high school kids play since september.  Much better than the NHL.  Is that thing still around?

Who needs it? My wife does. My daughter and soon-to-be-born son do. I do. In fact most people who count on arena revenues and service-oriented jobs within arenas during games do as well. People seem to have forgotten that this lock out goes deeper than just players v. owners, and whether or not the fans have anything to watch. It's affecting a lot more people than that. Yeah sure I miss it. I miss the entertainment value. But I also miss the raise and bonus that my wife won't get this year because there's no hockey revenue. I stress over the uncertainty of whether or not she'll have a job in a month or two if the season is cancelled, which pales in comparison to what stress she's feeling.

I just hope and pray that this gets resolved relatively soon. It would really make a lot of peoples' lives easier.

your post just makes me more angry at the greedy bastards who can't come to an agreement.  I hope things turn out ok for you and your family.

There's a lot more wrong with NHL hockey than just money.  I love amateur hockey.  Its purely about the sport.  I love amateur hockey for the same reason's I prefer college football over the NFL.  These are team sports.  The money continues to ruin professional sports to the point where they are boring or infuriating to watch.  Because of people like Todd Bertuzzi and Ron Artest, I'll only watch professional sports when nothing else is on the tube and I'm entirely bored.

By the way, I think Vince McMahon would be a great pick as Comissioner of the NHL...

This strike does hurt more than the overpaid players and rich owners . My husband and I enjoy watching the Chicago Wolves in the AHL, the minor league. Comcast cable plays EVERY one of their games on local access. I also play in a women's league in the area to keep me busy. 2 games this weekend...
I'm personally so sick of what goes on in professional sports these days, with Randy Moss performing his antics, the whole NBA fiasco, showboating, taunting the fans etc. Many of these players would never be able to hold a REAL job in this country if they couldn't catch a football or throw a ball through a basket. It drives me crazy when these millionaires make comments like "I need more money so I can feed my children". Last I looked, it doesn't cost 3 million a year to raise a family of 4.
OK, I'm done for now.

I refer back to what I said in an earlier post, Briam McCabe Maple Laughs player said, in the press, I only make 3,5 million a year and have a hard time making ends meet. Hey heres news for him I'd play for the buds for half that and still be able to make ends meet twice and give some money to my friends on BT.

I have had enough of these greedy players/owners and am enjoyning the junior level of play, I think the only way we will see pro hockey back is if the NHL folds and #99 picks up the peices. Go get em wayne!

I miss the NHL. I have played ice hockey for two years. Growing up in Florida, hockey was not a part of my childhood. Now I play every week. The last NHL game I watched was in late 2003. The Rangers played the Lightning at MSG. I watched Leech, Carter and St. Louis in person. They were great! I don't care how much they ask for. If someone offered me $2 million to play, I wouldn't tell them that I would play for less. "Two million? I think that 2.5 is a better price. After all, I have a lot of bills to pay." If you can't afford to watch them in person, do what I do. Watch TV. When a can't miss game comes to your area, buy the tickets, or shut up.
