Thanks for the replies, guys! Do you need to have two formulas to train with? One formula for the shorter training sessions and the IM formula for the long sessions? I thought the questionnaire was a good way to see what I need to race the longer ones with.
That is a great question. I normally have most of my AG's that I work with (and Pro's ) set up with two fomulas.
One, an endurance mix. This is your "go to" mix. Works for training and also the bike on the long course stuff.
Long disctance carb blend (higher % of maltodextrin ).
Higher calories
3-4 gms of protein (not much but enough to keep you from getting hungry )
Second, a run/sprint mix.
Same flavor level
Short distance blend for carbs. This increases the % of glucose and lets it clear you gut quicker durring higher HR conditions like sprints or the run for long distance tri's.
10% less calories
NO PROTEIN
This is the formula to add caffeine if you want.
These two formulas cover 99% of the racing and training that you could do. |
