looks like everyone was drafting on the bike and also seems like there's no penalty for not racking your bike property.

those must have been the days.....

Lance seemed to have alot of upper-body movement on the bike as well - i think he may have worked on that a bit and sorted it out!!

I'm digging the hi-tech sunglasses.  Reminds me of a pair of swatch sunglasses I had once... *flashback*

Geez, never thought I'd see Lance Armstrong as a pedal masher.  Obviously, he's perfected his pedaling stroke now, but it was very interesting to watch that race and witness all that body movement on the bike and run.  His technique did not win that race, but rather he has been genetically gifted with a big "engine".  Improving his technique took him from a winning amateur to a world class athlete.

Mmmmm. I'm encouraged. Lance looks like me all that bobbing and weaving in the saddle. So I only have about 18 more years to go to be a great cyclist! Yeahhh!

Im wondering how much of that was genetics and how much of that is pure will power. I grew up in Plano and went to East. His biography says he rode his bike to swim practice in the mornings COPS (city of Plano swimming) Did his work out, rode his bike home and did the same thing after school. Now COPS is on the west side of plano and I'm guessing its 4-5 miles from where ever he lived. So minimally thats 16-20 miles a day on the bike 4000-6000M swimming 5 days a week. He rode his bike because his mom worked. And I hear swimming has an enormous effect on your aerobic capacity. Then you read the stories about his weekend rides. Its like he's been perfecting his body ever since his mom bought him that first bike. Plus the work ethic his mom instilled in him.

I hear he still hold the highest VO2 max recorded at the Cooper Institute in Dallas.

How cool is that, and yeah, he really did get his form and strategy in line didn't he?!

Man, that guy is just another species. Like my wife likes to call marathoners: Pneumopod - lungs with feet!
