Subject: Denver Run Routes?
I'm heading to Denver and then to North Dakota this week. I found a good run route in Bismarck, but Denver is a little trickier.  Is there an area that people go to run in Downtown Denver?  I looked on mapmyrun but I'm just a little leary of running in downtown Denver.  I've been there once before and there were areas there that reminded me of SW Baltimore i.e. wouldn't want to be running through there pre-dawn.

Anyone have a good route?

Haha, don't worry, Denver is a relatively safe city...especially if you stay close to downtown.  I like washington park, there is a 2.6 mile dirt/gravel loop around the park and it is beautiful.  Cherry creek trail goes straight through downtown as well but it is concrete.  There are a ton of other options as well...www.trailsdenver.com/

Hilton Garden Inn Downtown 14th and Welton.  I think Denver City Park is 2.7 miles away.  Is that a good park/area to run around?

City park is great to run around! That is actually where a lot of races are held! Depending on how long you want to run, you could potentially run to City park, do a route around the park, then run back to your hotel. There are actually quite a few City park run routes on Mapmyrun.com at different distances that you can take a look at! Washington (Wash) park is also a great place to run, but may be a little further from you. Good luck!

How far do you want to run? From your hotel, you are set. Just head south. The cherry creek trail is about 3 blocks from your hotel. From there you can run West (to conlfuence park and South platte trail (if you are going for more than 3 miles). Or you can head east and run to Cherry Creek Mall and Denver Country Club. More like 6 miles round trip. I do these runs about twice a week and they are nice runs and very safe. I probably wouldn't do it at 5 or 6 in the morning, but I can vouge that at lunch time you will see dozens of runners out there.

Thanks everyone.  Sounds like there's lots of options.  I'll try City Park this time.  Hopefully the altitude is easier to deal with than the god-awful humidity we have down here right now.

If you're running in the afternoon (when people are getting their after-work runs in) or on weekends, I think Wash Park is the best urban run on the planet (excluding oceanfront runs). I try to get in a run there everytime I drive down the hill into the thich air(including today as I'm doing an airport trip today). Your comment about downtown Denver was strange to me. I love downtown and have never felt even minimally unsafe there.
