What are the chances of actually getting in the race online.  Training partner and I have plans to do our first IM next year.  Our plans originally are for us to do IMLouisville since it is closer to us (Mississippi) and we have been told by some of our other training partners that have done it, that it is very similar to the terrain we train in.

Our thoughts are we really don't want to do our first IM in that kind of heat.  I will if necessary but mamma just gave me the ok to go to IMLP if we can get in.  Mamma and the kids would rather vacation up there anyway.  So guys if your sitting on your computer when registration opens up whats your chances?

Thanks

There aint no doubt we will be trying from online.  Going up there this year is not an option.  I will be vacationing with the family all week in FL.

I can tell you that last year it sold out on site and never went online. I sat at my computer all ready to fight for my slot, but 30 minutes before it was to go online a message popped up saying the race was all sold out.

I had to pay (my company did as a charity) the community fund price of $750.

Good luck!

Paying Community Fund is always an option if it does sell out onsite.  You can get it that way, you'll just have to pay more.

If I were you, I would try online and if it doesn't open that way, do the community slot. It doesn't cost THAT much more then race entry anyway. Heck, I KNOW I spent more on gas, food and lodging to get up there to sign up last year then the difference you will pay with the slot.

I live in NYC and even with just driving up - which for me is a rental car, gas, hotel, expenses - really wouldn't be a whole lot less than community fund so I imagine it would be cheaper than you and others having to fly there. Give online a shot and if it fails, pay the CF fee, at least you'll be able to get into the race you really want to do. Good luck!
