Here is a 2 mile OWS from Island Beach 2 miles from Greenwich Harbor on August 8th. They take you out on a boat, make you walk the plank, and you swim back to shore. Im thinking of doing it and looks like good OWS training for a HIM or full ironman.

What happens if you don't finish in 45 minutes (which is fairly fast for 2 miles - 22:30 miles)?  Looks like a blast.  I may be up for it but it would likely take me around 50 minutes and I would be ticked if I were pulled.

Never mind, mis-read... you have to finish HALF the course in 45 minutes

Come on guys...seriously? How lame... You should of course do a giant dolphin kick. Although whoever is in the back, may want to stay on their back, otherwise they will not breath.

I HIGHLY recommend this swim, especially if you are training for a HIM or full distance Ironman. Super well run and small. They cap it at 90 people. Tons of boats and life gaurds were out there looking out for us.

I couldnt complain about the weather. The water was maybe 70 degrees or warmer.

The course is an out and back from the island. They no longer have you swim back to the main land.

Island Beach is spectacular. Im bringing a cooler and some charcoal next time and Im staying out there for a picnic.
