Thanks to KSH for recommending I do a brick before my first tri.  I know have a newfound respect for the sport and understand the difference between crosstraining in swim/bike/run and being a triathlete.  I felt great on the bike, did a "transition" by running my bike from the beginning to the end of the driveway, ditched my helmet, got ready to run, and...

...complete lockup of the legs.  They shook out after half a mile, but WOW.  I am SO glad I experienced that before the tri.

Managed 10 mile bike ride in 37:00, 30 second transition (had put on my bike gloves out of habit - won't do that during the tri), and ran a mile in an astoundly slow 9 minutes.

Now it's tapering until Monday night's triathlon.  It's a very casual, almost "Fun Run" type deal, so a nice way to break in.

HA! Not so sure about that man. Mostly I'm just more than willing to share any small bit of knowledge I have. There are way more advanced and amazing athletes on this board who have a lot more to offer!

LOL - I haven't heard "butthead" since elementary school.  I SO have to dig that insult out, along with "dork" and "numbskull." Sealed

And fear not - running's all I got going for me right now.  I bike at 15mph and swim at 3:40/100 yds.
